ArtsNight OUT

ArtsNight OUT is a monthly cultural outing program for ArtsUnited members. We look for exciting GLBT arts programs and arrange for free tickets or group discounts for ArtsUnited members.

September 27 Arts NightOUT Features 13/08 Exhibit
September's Arts NightOUT event will be held Saturday, Sept.27, at the Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale from 1-3pm. This special wine reception for ArtsUnited members will include a special tour of the current exhibit 13/08 which features 13 local artists, including local gay artist Rob Nathans, who will be in attendance to discuss his work.

The exhibit features 13 emerging and mid-career artists chosen by the South Florida Cultural Consortium, offering an annual glimpse of the art happening in our own backyard. The exhibit includes Rob Nathans whose work incorporates the collaged fabrics of shirts and garmets of people who have died of AIDS.

This special event for ArtsUnited members is $10 and includes the reception with Rob Nathans, a tour of the exhibit by Museum Director Irvin Lippman, wine, and access to the entire museum the rest of the afternoon. Also on exhibit at the museum is first generation Abstract Expressionist, Marca-Relli, and Selections From the useum's Contemporary Collection, including work by Stella, Warhal, and Mapplethorpe. The Museum is located at One East Las Olas Blvd in Fort Lauderdale.

October 3rd Arts NightOUT Features Photographer
The Art & Culture Center of Hollywood hosts a private reception for ArtsUnited members Friday, October 3, 2008 from 6 - 8:30pm at 1650 Harrison Street in Hollywood. The Center will be serving beer, wine and a special signature cocktail, as well as light hors d'oeuvres.

Meet local gay artist Alex Heria, whose exhibition " Alex Heria: Photographs 2000 -2008 " is on view in the Center's main galleries. Heria is one of the winners of the 2007 South Florida Cultural Consortium in the Visual Arts. His exhibition is comprised of several bodies of photographic work made over the last five years depicting abstracted landscapes. He has also done extensive portraiture of his partner and he, as well as other gay couples in intimate settings. The Center's "Focus South Florida" project room will feature new work by critically acclaimed Miami based artist Julie Davidow.

Come meet the Center's Curator of Exhibitions, Jane Hart, and Executive Director Joy Satterlee, who will be on hand to discuss upcoming exhibitions and artist opportunities, such as the 2009 All Media Juried Biennial, that are open to ArtsUnited members.
